Three Generations of Design Showroom Knowledge, the Key to Surviving & Thriving in Uncertain Times | 8 | Alexis Varbero – CEO Schwartz Design Showroom

Josh Cooperman | Director Broadcast Operations / Hudson One Media and host of curated chill, the aspire design and home podcast.

The design industry is having some very challenging times right now, fair statement. Here’s the thing, business is good, no…it’s great. But not being able to get the product into the project is a challenge of epic proportions. So to o is the fact that inflationary pressures are driving up the cost of design, but that is exclusively on the product and shipping side so it’s not like the industry is benefitting directly. And there is only so much room to add increased costs. This being said, there is hope and you are about to get a healthy dose from Alexis Varbero.

Varbero is the third-generation CEO of Schwartz Design Showroom in Metuchen, NJ and Stamford, CT. This design center has been operating for 70 years. This means they saw the end of World WarII, The Vietnam War, the gas crisis in the 1970’s, hyper inflation in the 80’s and the following crash in 1987. They saw the great recession, 9/11 and plenty more social unrest, financial collapse, incredible growth and they have survived and thrived through it all. So, what you are about to hear is a conversation that cover 70+ years and 3 generations of design management. Alexis knows of what she speaks.
